Day 1 as a housewife in Lima.
Not much was planned for today. The only necessity on the agenda was to go to the store and get some groceries for my Business Man and myself. After a week of dining at the B&B on our honeymoon, I was more than ready for some healthy food. Don't get me wrong, all the food on the honeymoon was totally fabulous; my body just didn't feel so great not eating much fresh produce.
Daily trips to the ice cream shop didn't help either. :-P
So, I made my little list with 3 whole entire dinners planned out. (Go me!) I went to the supermarket, called Ray's. First time grocery shopping as a married woman! I wandered through the store, collected all my items, and finally ended up at the check-out. The scanner man scanned all my items through, gave me the total, and I wrote him a check. (BTW, the very last check with my maiden name on it.)
Needless to say, after he already ran the check, he realized it was an out-of-state check. At Ray's, they don't take out-of-state checks. Would have been nice to know that before I went in! And just to make the situation even better, I had no other way to pay. So there I was, that embarrassed woman who has to put all her groceries back because she can't pay... ha!
So, my first experience of grocery shopping in the Bean Town = FAIL.
Anyways, I talked with my Business Man, got some money and ended up re-shopping at Meijer Mart. It turned out to be cheaper actually. :-)
Anyways, that's all for now here in the Bean Town. Stay tuned for more exciting events occuring as I discover life in the Bean Town.
